Steve's Immanuel Kant Blog (Example)

 

Students were asked to become a major historical figure from the Renaissance, Scientific Revolution, Enlightenment, or French Revolution. Their goal was to create a blog and interact with some other of their historical "friends" from these periods, as well as the greater public.

Students worked in groups of 1-3 to research their historical figure using both primary and secondary documents.   They were then asked to post at least three blog entries.   The first post was an autobiographical piece; the second discussed the time period in which they lived; the third focused on one significant piece of work or accomplishment of their historical figure.   There was also an optional fourth entry in which students explained either how they influenced another fellow blogger, or how they were influenced by another blogger.   Students were then asked to comment on the blogs of others in their section. As with any project, these are always works in progress.

Students were evaluated using the criteria found in the following Performance Task Assessment Lists (PTAL):
